7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (June 11)
4. Joe Vs. Rollins
Samoa Joe had one hell of a Sunday night. And as stated earlier, he had one hell of a Monday night by being in one of the best TV segments all year.
He had a ton of momentum behind him headed into his big showdown with Brock Lesnar in a few weeks at Fire Ballz: The Pay-Per-View Experience. Then the main event of Raw went down and he lost quite a bit of steam.
Seth Rollins is not a hot act right now. His balls are not on fire you could say. He wasn’t the guy Joe should have been facing after his stellar performance earlier in the night. Really, that was exactly where to call it quits for Joe but three hours have gotta be filled, so unnecessarily long matches need to go down. Otherwise, we would have to watch Kurt Angle wonder how to make a phone work for 10 more minutes a show.
If Joe is going to look like a killer and get people to believe he’s an equal to Brock, then he needs to wrestle like Brock. Trading offense with Rollins for 15 minutes didn’t help. To make it even more absurd, the only way he won was because Bray Wyatt interfered. Did WWE remember the very beginning of the show when they booked Wyatt to already lose his quest to defeat everyone who beat him the night before? Yes. Yes, they did.
Sometimes matches just don’t need to be booked and Joe/Rollins was a perfect example of one.
