7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (March 12)
7. TNA Declares War
Yeah, I know, it’s Impact, but the stink of "TNA" is going to stay with them for years. Rightfully so. The company can’t even start their newest era without coming across as a bunch of inept a**holes who know nothing about promoting a wrestling company, or really, just a company in general. Should we have expected better?
It would be one thing if Anthem decided they simply couldn’t afford to keep The Hardys, Drew Galloway and others. It’s a business, so they have to do what they need to do to stay afloat. However, in one of the worst PR moves they could possibly make outside of murdering one of their own wrestlers, they're taking legal action over Matt Hardy's Broken Universe and trying to claim they own part of it. What the f**k are they thinking?
That move is going to piss off the wrestling community as a whole. Their business plan should be to bring fans BACK, not to keep pushing them away, because they’ve lost about 75% of their audience over the past five years. Trying to fight with the Hardys, who were their most popular act in 2016, is insanity.
I didn’t always love the Broken Universe, but Matt sure as hell tried to create something unique, and invested his own money into the project. He created a buzz, and he delivered record ratings on Pop. Now a new company is claiming it’s their thing. Considering LESS people watched the opening of the new era than the prior week (by about 1,000), this has to be one of the weirdest business decisions the company has ever made. Putting Cheex back in the ring and giving him the World Title might be less disastrous for their perception.
