6. How Many Titles Is Too Many Titles?

Impact has the World Heavyweight Championship, The Grand Championship, The X-Division Championship, Tag Titles and Knockouts Title. That’s five belts for a two-hour show. It’s probably one too many, but it’s workable. When GFW came to town, their World and Women’s titles were introduced along with the Nex Gen belt. That makes eight. Now the GFW Tag Titles have been announced to return. Number nine.

There was no good reason to bring back the tag belts because the men that last held them are now by the side of Jinder Mahal. It seems unlikely they’ll show up on Impact anytime soon, so a whole new tournament is being created to give birth to the gold (silver?) once more. Can we at least know why?

It has already been announced on-air that GFW and Impact were merging. So can’t they just merge all these damn belts already? They are making it ridiculously more complicated than it needs to be. Go grab a shovel and bury the Tag Titles in the back of Jeff Jarrett’s backyard. Problem solved. Don’t bring them back to life to put on a non-GFW team (even though none of them exist anymore, anyway) to then defend them against the Impact belts. I’m guessing Jeff is a bit upset that the promotion never worked out for him, but it’s time to let it go.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
