A year ago, 3.23 million people watched Monday Night Raw in the United States. The year before that, 3.69 million sat down to watch the show. This week it was 2.67 million. In two years, over one million fewer fans are watching the show! There’s 0% chance that all of those people suddenly just bought a DVR and are watching it on delay. DVRs were very much a thing in 2015. This is a huge problem, but nothing is being done about it. Hey, I got an idea. Why don't they add a fourth hour to Raw?

On that much more watched 2015 episode of Raw, it was Seth Rollins and Randy Orton in the main event. Two acts that remain featured performers in WWE and are continually stale. Dean Ambrose was doing his whacky antics and took on J & J Security. The Authority was the biggest thing going, and it still basically is, whenever they do appear. Because of that, every single wrestler feels less than. And if you recall, Roman Reigns was still Roman Reigns, which meant most people didn't like him.

Sure, in 2015 we didn't have a Cruiserweight Division (I don't even know if that's a good or bad thing anymore), and we had never heard of a man named James Ellsworth, but everything felt less stale then. WWE can keep shaking things up onscreen as much as they want, but until they change something backstage, then fans are going to keep on leaving.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
