7 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The Week (May 1)
3. The Three Horsewomen...And Ellsworth Too
It's time to move all the women wrestlers in WWE to Raw, and move all the Cruiserweights over to SmackDown. Not only will it save the company some money (you're welcome!) by having all the Cruisers on-hand to compete on 205 Live, but we will be spared from Charlotte having to feud with Carmella, Tamina, Natalya and maybe even James Ellsworth.
The best option of the three is, of course, Natalya. She and Charlotte tore it up in NXT and put on one of the best matches in the brand's history. But if Nattie can't even handle Nikki Bella these days, then what hope is there for her to take down The Queen? It's another maddening example of us suddenly having to take someone seriously without any actual effort being put into it (Breezango and Jinder Mahal suddenly becoming credible for other incredibly recent examples).
For people to care about a hero, there needs to be a strong villain. That was the role Charlotte was supposed to play! Having her battle Naomi and Becky Lynch should have filled up a few months of television. Then in the meantime, they could focus on making Carmella or Tamina look legit (though good luck with that, maybe just call up Asuka?). WWE, though, can't help but rush through absolutely everything. This is why we have already seen Naomi vs. Charlotte twice in two weeks.
Instead of seeing one really strong Women's Division on one show with seven immediate credible wrestlers, SmackDown has three (Charlotte, Becky, Naomi) and Raw has four (Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax). That's just not enough to make either division work long-term and they're doing a lot of damage to both shows because of it.
