7 Wrestling Characters I Read Way Too Much Into
3. Kerwin White
Ah yes, the curious case of Chavo Guerrero. His family are wrestling royalty in lucha libre, yet Chavo was always seen as the runt of the litter. He was talented, yes, but he lacked the charisma, the excitement of his father and his uncles. No, that's not right, he had that, but what Chavo lacked was the opportunities. That must have been it.
Despite some resentment, Chavo was still a good kid. He was and is a Guerrero after all; he was raised well. Still, he saw uncle Eddie reach incredible levels of success by accepting the inevitable and cheating his way to the top. Lying, cheating, and stealing brought Eddie incredible success.
It disgusted Chavo however, his proud family name tarnished in the name of success. Sure, the crowd loved it, and yes the championships were there, but he had won plenty of championships himself and never gotten the acclaim his uncle did. He had never felt less like a Guerrero.
So he simply stopped being one. Disgusted by what he considered to be the sullying of the Guerrero legacy, Chavo turned his back on his family, his heritage, his traditions. In a wholesale change not unlike that of a 13-year-old geek turned goth, Chavo became known as Kerwin White, the very picture of upper class America. He became the anti-Guerrero. Chavo was all set to move forward as Kerwin and distance himself from the Guerrero name, until tragedy struck.
Maybe, or maybe WWE creative had a ridiculous plan and Chavo felt his job was on the line if he didn't take the opportunity.
