7 Wrestling Dream Matches That Sucked (When They Finally Happened)
7. Brock Lesnar Vs. Goldberg (WWE WrestleMania XX)
Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar was a bit of a soft inter-promotional war.
After WCW bit the dust in 2001, Lesnar debuted in '02 and instantly shot up the ladder as a monstrous success holding his own against everyone from Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker to The Rock and Kurt Angle. He was a beast, and he shared some similarities with WCW's own snorting muscleman, Bill Goldberg. A match up was only natural.
Throwing Steve Austin (who had long been compared to Goldberg) into the mix as special ref also set this 'Mania XX scorcher up nicely. Then, both Bill and Brock told WWE they'd be leaving right after the event, and the MSG match turned into a farce. Fans, who should've been excited to see powerhouse present vs. powerhouse past, were not in the mood to watch these guys.
This resulted in a match that crawled past without offering up any of the dynamic exchanges that were expected. Lesnar and Goldberg didn't know how to deal with the negativity, and Austin ended up being the only one in the match fans in New York gave a toss about.
