7 Wrestling Dream Matches That Sucked (When They Finally Happened)

5. Hulk Hogan Vs. Bret Hart (WCW Nitro, 28 September 1998)

By his own admission, Bret Hart went from believing Hulk Hogan was a leader of men and an all-round cool dude to a big, bald jerk who selfishly tried to squash the 'Hitman's' World Title push in 1993. According to Bret, Hulk even canned any and all attempts to work a Hart vs. Hogan match in the WWF before leaving and later showing up in WCW.

That opened the door for WCW when Bret jumped ship himself in late-1997.

Typically, they threw guaranteed pay-per-view dollars down the drain to pop a number on Nitro. On 28 September 1998, Bret Hart finally went toe-to-toe with Hulk on live television, and it ended up being a forgettable night for both. Here's the deal: the first half of the match was fine, and Hogan even showed he could match Hart's chain-wrestling approach. It was totally overbooked though and went to a non-finish.

Did this lead to anything down the line? Not really. WCW moved Hogan on to feud with Warrior and Bret faced Sting. He and Hulk only had the briefest of collisions after years of talk about what might happen when they eventually did.
