7 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Actually Happened

2. Asuka & Naomichi Marufuji Vs. Minoru Suzuki & Meito Sakomura

Although Asuka and Minoru Suzuki have always been fairly awesome, both are that rare example of wrestlers whose peak has arrived in what would otherwise have been regarded as their twilight years. Heck, the former Kana actually retired before good pal Sara Amato lured her to NXT, where she went on to become one of the brand's, if not the entire company's most revered stars.

About a year before her unexpected and unprecedented switch Stateside, Asuka produced a show with the rather festive name 'ProMania Party', which she headlined alongside a Suzuki just beginning to enter his years as 'awesome old bastard'. Their opponents were Asuka's former partner and great rival, self-styled Karate Girl Syuri, and inexplicably, a 65-year-old Yoshiaki Fujiwara - he of the famous armbar.

It's a bit of an uncomfortable watch, as Asuka spends a large chunk of the match being beaten up by a man who started wrestling nine years before she was born. Suzuki's assault of Syuri is even more disturbing - though perhaps not quite as much as Fujiwara generally flopping about.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
