5. Alberto El Patron

A caveat, here, as Dirty Bertie was stripped of the Unified GFW World Heavyweight Championship (or what we'd now call the Impact World Championship) months before he was eventually fired from Impact Wrestling/GFW, though the self-destructive behavioural patterns that led to his dismissal first reared their head while holding the promotion's top prize.

Alberto El Patron was suspended by Impact in July 2017. He had only been with the company for four months but his employer's hands were tied when he was involved in an alleged domestic violence incident with then-girlfriend Paige, hence the shelving. Weeks of uncertainty followed, as El Patron had only held the strap since the Slammiversary pay-per-view 11 days prior, though the promotion was initially slow to act. Then, finally, Alberto was stripped of the title a month later, eventually returning to the company that November, though he was gone by the following April.

Patron was released from his contract after no-showing a Lucha Underground vs. Impact Wrestling event over WrestleMania weekend. He hasn't been signed to a major American promotion since, though he keeps insisting that WWE want to bring him back.

They don't.
