The Undertaker's demonic overlord gimmick was a winner during the Attitude Era. Once again, 'Taker proved he could push the refresh button when appropriate, and there was a ton of intrigue over exactly who was the 'Higher Power' pulling strings in his Corporate Ministry.

That's when WWE had a colossal brain fart and lazily booked Vince McMahon to be the mysterious hooded figure screwing over Steve Austin. This seemed plausible at the time, largely because McMahon and Austin were mortal enemies who had been at loggerheads since the Stone Cold juggernaut kicked into gear.

Viewed now though, the big reveal falls flat. People were expected to believe that Vince was willing to threaten the lives of wife Linda and treasured daughter Stephanie (who was nearly sacrificed by 'Taker) just so he could get the title from Austin?
