When D-Generation X gave way to The McMahon-Helmsley Regime in 2000, it seemed like the natural course of action. Triple H was a killer heel WWF Champion and Stephanie McMahon's family ties allowed her new husband untold power. At no point did announcers acknowledge how 'The Game' and Steph got together.

Therein lies the problem: watch late-1999 programming and you'll realise Stephanie was supposed to wed Test before Triple H drugged her enough to get hitched at a drive through ceremony in Las Vegas. That's right: the happy couple weren't always so happy. In fact, McMahon didn't even know where she was when they got married.

Such knowledge makes it hard to enjoy what was to come. The drug-induced wedding vows were swept quickly under a nearby carpet and never mentioned again. It was almost as though they never happened at all. The whole situation is pretty awkward in an era obsessed with clean cut image.
