7 WWE Directions Kevin Owens Can Go Now

3. An Anti-Authority Angle

Towards the end of his Ring Of Honor run, Owens (then known as Kevin Steen) played an anti-authority role to perfection. He waged war on authority figure Jim Cornette and was banned from ROH shows, running in from the crowd to consistently raucous receptions. If given the opportunity to reprise a Ring Of Honor angle - as CM Punk was in 2011 - Owens has the potential to become the hottest new star in the company. Triple H, sensing the threat posed by Owens to Rollins' WWE Championship reign (and, by extension, the dominance of The Authority), could take steps to hinder him - eventually banning him from WWE shows. The support historically garnered by such rebellious figures throughout WWE history, including Steve Austin and the aforementioned Punk, could be turned into gold by Owens, a man who has proven his credibility in such a role before.
