7 WWE Hell In A Cell 2020 Impulse Reactions

1. Drew McIntyre (c) Vs. Randy Orton

Response online during the Drew McIntyre/Randy Orton match spoke to much of the fanbase's open disdain with this feud getting a third pay-per-view match. This was compounded following liberal use of the "holy sh*t" and "this is awesome" buttons backstage.

It became hard to summon organic feelings with these differing takes in constant opposition with one another and the match itself, but then maybe that's because every last bit of chemistry between Champion and Challenger was wrung bone dry at Clash Of Champions.

They had a ceiling, and it was not - appropriately enough - reached in a contest that saw them climb atop one. For very little artistic reason, they rumbled at the top. It was of course to set up the Champion's big fall and the bump that would - sigh - protect him somewhat when he fell to Orton's RKO a few moments later.

The real fear came not from the lethargic bump through the table but from the "Coming Next..." graphic appearing in the lower third of the screen as 'The Apex Predator' held his 14th World Heavyweight Title aloft. The show was over without a cash-in from The Miz and Orton, for now (forever?) is back on top.
