7 WWE Main Events You Won't Believe Didn't Close A PPV

2. Royal Rumble 2006

The Match That Closed The Show: Kurt Angle vs. Mark Henry, World Heavyweight Championship. It is almost never a bad thing when Kurt Angle is headlining a pay-per-view. Except when it's against Mark Henry. Sadly the only thing that necessitated this match ending the show, is what would go on after it ended. After a less than spectacular performance that saw Angle retain, it would soon become clear why this match had to go on last. Shortly after the bell The Undertaker would appear to signify he was coming after Angle's championship. In the process a bolt of "lightning" appeared as Taker motioned his hands downward and the ring collapsed around Angle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mn2Ck5uIJw This may have been a cool way to end one of your weekly shows but was a pretty big let down to your fans after what happened earlier in the night. Especially if you read spoilers about it that same day, which were spot on. The Match That Should Have Closed The Show: Royal Rumble Match. Before Daniel Bryan played the role of underdog in 2014, Rey Mysterio played the ultimate role of David almost ten years earlier. After the tragic death of Eddie Guerrero in November 2005, Rey one of his closest friends in real life took his passing as inspiration and dedicated the 2006 rumble match to Eddie's honor. Mysterio lasted over 62 minutes in the match, still a rumble record, eliminating the likes of Randy Orton and HHH and would go on to capture the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. One of the greatest inspirational stories to ever play out on WWE programming deserved a moment in the spotlight.
