7 WWE Superstars Who Need New Theme Songs

2. Charlotte

Hey, did you guys know that Charlotte Flair is Ric Flair’s daughter? I don’t blame you if you don’t, it’s kind of an obscure bit of trivia. WWE doesn’t really bring it up much, but if you look, you see they’ll drop clues every now and then. For example, and this very well may shock you, but her theme song, Recognition, is actually a dance remix of Ric Flair’s old theme song.

While you collect the bits of your mind that were blown away after such a revelation, let’s look at how this ultimately puts a ceiling on Charlotte. Not in terms of how she’s booked, as it’s clear she’ll be the face of whatever division she’s a part of for at least the next five years, but a ceiling to how she can define her legacy.

It’s always difficult for the children of wrestlers to create their own legacies while still tying their identity to that of their parents. Sure, Dustin Rhodes was a decorated midcarder in WCW in the early '90s as the son of the American Dream, but it wasn’t until he went to the WWF and became the unrecognizable Goldust that he truly carved out his own legacy. Obviously, everyone knows that Charlotte is ridiculously talented and one of the best female wrestlers of her generation. She’s already had many great accomplishments and accolades, such as being a multiple-time women’s champion, and winning the first-ever female Hell in a Cell match.

However, it’s hard to tell how much she’ll be remembered as great on her own terms and not remembered as just Ric Flair’s talented daughter. If WWE want the case to be the former, the best thing would be for Charlotte to get her own music that’s totally unrelated to Ric’s. But since they’ve recently started calling her Charlotte Flair as opposed to just Charlotte, it’s unlikely that will happen anytime soon.
