The 1991 edition of SummerSlam featured a handicap match involving two of the most unlikely headliners in WWE history: Col. Mustafa and General Adnan.

To hear that The Iron Sheik main evented one of the most important shows of the year for WWE should not come as a surprise. After all, he ended the multi-year WWE title reign of Bob Backlund in 1983 before dropping the title to Hulk Hogan a month later, officially ushering in the era of Hulkamania.

No, the surprise shouldn't be that Sheiky Baby headlined a major WWE event, the surprise should come because of the fact that the major event took place in August of 1991 when Sheik wasn't actually The Iron Sheik.

Nearly 8 years after Sheik's WWE Championship reign, he headlined SummerSlam but as Colonel Mustafa, a member of Sgt. Slaughter's Triangle Of Terror.

As for General Adnan, he was the manager that lead Slaughter to the WWE Championship, despite the General abandoning the match early on, at the 1991 Royal Rumble. Slaughter defeated The Ultimate Warrior for the WWE title and would continue the feud with Warrior, as well as Hulk Hogan, up until SummerSlam.

Despite the three-on-one numerical advantage, the Triangle of Terror just couldn't match up against megastars Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior. It made for a lacklustre match in which the only intrigue surrounded the newcomer that was refereeing the contest, Sid Justice, and a potential appearance by Jake The Snake and/or The Undertaker.
