7 WWE Superstars You Forgot Headlined SummerSlam
2. Mabel (SummerSlam 1995)
Mabel was quite possibly the worst headliner of the 90s and he happened to main-event the second biggest show of the year in 1995.
As a former tag team member of Men On A Mission, the duo of Mabel and Mo quickly turned heel on their manager Oscar just prior to WrestleMania XI. Vince McMahon then decided to fast-tracker Mabel, likely due to his mammoth size, to the top of the card, in preparation for a SummerSlam main event and as another monster to feed new flagship performer Diesel.
Mabel came out of no where to win the 1995 King Of The Ring, going a long way towards marking the June '95 pay-per-view one of the worst in WWE history. The M.O.M. star then interjected himself into the Diesel vs. Sycho Sid Lumberjack Match at In Your House in July, setting up the big main event at the Igloo for August 27th.
The biggest highlight of Mabel's program with Diesel came on the Monday Night RAW just before SummerSlam as it saw Davey Boy Smith turn heel as part of King Mabel's "Royal Plan".
As for the match itself, it was exactly what you'd expect from two near 7 foot tall superstars like Kevin Nash and Nelson Frazier. They tried, but just didn't have it in them, nor the chemistry together, to pull off a memorable main event.
