7 WWE Tag Teams You Totally Forgot Existed

3. Gymini

The Gymini were a tag team that were sponsored by Simon Dean's "patented Simon System" meaning Dean was their manager while they were guys who were considered gym rats. In other words, they worked out a lot. Maybe a gimmick like that would have worked in the cheesy 1980s or early 1990s, but probably not. In 2006 it certainly didn't work. What WWE failed to realize that a gimmick where a team works out a lot really doesn't stand out from the pack when 98% of the wrestlers in WWE look like they work out a lot. It's not like a team of in-shape guys will differentiate themselves from everybody else on the show. "Look at these guys, they work out a lout!" Yeah so? Most of the roster does too. There really was nothing different about them. They were twin brothers that were named Gymini #1 and Gymini #2 for a while, but then they were called Jake and Jesse. They started on Smackdown in January 2006, wrestled a handful of televised matches and were gone within a few months. When you're saddled with a limited gimmick like that, it doesn't really matter if you can work or not. They were not going to be successful as those characters.
