8 AEW Double Or Nothing Impulse Reactions

2. Chris Jericho Vs. Kenny Omega

Jon Moxley AEW

Before Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho fought to determine Hangman Page's AEW Heavyweight Title opponent, the man himself engaged in a war of words with MJF before the uber-heel got bantered off by Jungle Boy and Jimmy Havoc. It was this segment (after Friedman's fabulous caustic takedowns) that highlighted just how vital 'The Best Bout Machine' and 'Y2J' were to the potential overall success of this and every other AEW.

The undercard crew are simply not stars. Not yet, anyway. There's time for them to become just that, but the message was awkwardly apparent - in the short term, these two and select others on their level will be vital components to getting this brand off the ground. In the meantime, Jericho must live the gimmick and carry the organisation's title.

A good match made slightly worse by the raised expectations from their Wrestle Kingdom 12 scorcher in 2018, the Winnipeg natives didn't blow the roof off of the MGM, but the raised it enough to justify the last spot of the night. Jericho/Page has the benefit of being a boxfresh pairing, but can they match the above average standard set here?

And will fans care as much for the match as they did for the organisation's first major surprise?
