8 Awful WWE Feuds That Choked The Life Out Of Fans

4. Triple H Vs. Chris Jericho

The reception Triple H received from a sell-out Madison Square Garden crowd upon his return from injury in January 2002 was sensational. For the first time in years, 'The Game' was a top babyface and everyone seemed excited to see him romp to victory in the Royal Rumble before marching on to WrestleMania X-8 and capturing the Undisputed Title.

For his part, reigning champ Chris Jericho could have easily been terrific foil for Triple H as a sneering, braggart heel. Leave it to WWE's brain trust then to tack on Stephanie McMahon as Y2J's guiding light, one who favoured making the World Champion clean up dog crap rather than appearing like a star. Is it any wonder the 'Mania main event fell flat?

WWE destroyed any chances of Triple H vs. Jericho being a hit by writing such a demeaning build. Not only that, but the title match followed a dream bout pitting The Rock against Hollywood Hogan. By the time Triple H came out and conquered Jericho, fans had long-since tired of the bogus rivalry and memories of Hunter's magical return at MSG were distant.
