8 Awful WWE Feuds That Choked The Life Out Of Fans

3. John Cena Vs. Randy Orton

Perhaps WWE should have renamed John Cena vs. Randy Orton in 2009 the '100 Years War', because that's what it felt like to those sitting through it. It's not that the actual matches themselves were necessarily bad, but there were just too many of them. Plus, how many stipulations did these guys need?

A singles match at SummerSlam was followed by an 'I Quit' affair at Breaking Point, a Hell In A Cell match at the pay-per-view of the same name and even an unnecessary Iron Man encounter at Bragging Rights. This quartet of matches was overkill and shouldn't have gone on so long; keep in mind, this was before the WWE Network, so fans were often shelling out $50 a piece for each pay-per-view in North America. That's $200 for the privilege of seeing four John Cena vs. Randy Orton matches.

Orton and Cena had worked good-to-great matches before (watch their SummerSlam 2007 effort for proof of that), but even guys with great chemistry would struggle to come up fresh sequences or spots when wrestling so frequently.
