8 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE No Mercy 2017

4. Rushing The Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins Story

Credit where credit's due: WWE have done an outstanding job with the Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins storyline.

The angle has rejuvenated two performers who'd spent much of 2017 struggling for momentum, brought prestige to Raw's tag division, and kept fans entertained throughout. There's almost nothing to complain about, and this is largely down to the pacing. WWE have taken an uncharacteristically patient approach, letting the storyline unfold naturally instead of skipping to the end, which has amplified the importance of each new twist and turn.

The likeliest outcome is that the former Shield duo will lose the Raw Tag Titles, leading to renewed tension and a heel turn, followed by a lengthy singles feud. It's a great framework, but WWE must maintain the story's methodical pacing if they're to get the most out of it, and No Mercy is entirely too early to think about pulling the trigger.

If WWE are careful enough, there's no reason they can't stretch this story all the way to next spring, culminating in a huge match at WrestleMania 34. Have them lose now, however, and they may be forced to book the blow-off for Survivor Series - a huge waste of one of the year's best storylines.
