8 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE TLC 2017

2. The Most Tedious Narrative

WWE have destroyed the concept of the underdog babyface.

"Overcoming the odds" should be reserved for the likes of Bayley and a pre-turn Sami Zayn: naturally likeable characters with glaring flaws, who must overcome their self-imposed moralistic restrictions as well as the opponent stood before them. Instead, WWE throw this narrative at any wrestler they've decided is a "good guy," regardless of whether it makes sense or not.

They did it with John Cena, they've spent the last three years doing it with Roman Reigns, and in all likelihood, we'll get it with The Shield on Sunday. Their grand reunion is about to succumb to WWE's most tedious storytelling method. The fans will still pop, but there was no need to make the match so convoluted, and there's no reason it shouldn't be a regular trios bout rather than a five-on-three handicap.

No feud layout summons more eye-rolls at this, so get ready for them after TLC's conclusion. We're probably going to see Roman Reigns spear Sheamus, Cesaro, and Miz out of their boots, Superman punch Braun, then finish Kane, because WWE storytelling has never been lazier, and this proves it.
