8 Big Reasons WWE Fans Should Be Excited For WrestleMania 32
3. Kevin Owens Holds The Gold
That worked out quite nicely, didnt it? Dean Ambrose dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Kevin Owens without even getting pinned and moved on to one of the top billings of WrestleMania, and Kevin Owens gets to be the IC Champ and carry the title with prestige in what we can only guess will be the best one-on-one contest of the undercard on the show. Sometimes, a nice lack-of-plan comes together in the WWE landscape. It took quite a few horrible, terrifying turns over the course of a year, but this is where the Intercontinental Championship belongs. It needs to be in the hands of one of the bright up-and-coming stars in the WWE, someone who the majority of the crowd cares about in a positive or negative way. Owens captures both sides of that coin. He elicits a response from fans of all walks of life, and that is the first step required to make us care about the title. When we care about who holds it, and thus have an emotional investment over them retaining or losing it, we will care about the title itself. While no opponent has been set in stone for Owens, it would be nice to see the likes of Sami Zayn make a surprise appearance at Mania and take the fight to the champion to set up a summer-long feud of the two. It was also give us an excuse to hear Zayn's theme tune, which is the best in the business right now. The likes of AJ Styles have been tossed around, which would also work, though his ho-hum potential tag team with Chris Jericho may ruin the opportunity to see The Phenomenal One in a singles match at the biggest wrestling event of the year.
