8 Biggest Jon Jones Controversies
3. UFC 232 Fiasco
Another card, another debacle stemming from a Jon Jones drug test...
When the UFC announced the rematch between Jones and Alexander Gustafsson for UFC 232 in Las Vegas, fans the world over were excited to see if the Swede could replicate his considerable success from their first bout.
The fight marked Jones' return from suspension following his failed drug test at UFC 214 and the recently vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Title was on the line. The stage was set for Jones to return to form and begin to put much of the controversy surrounding his career behind him.
Unfortunately for the UFC, events surrounding Jon Jones' fights don't tend to go so smoothly. In the week prior to the event, a drug test showed trace amounts of the substance that Jones had previously been caught using and the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight.
Unwilling to let the PPV event go on without its main attraction, the UFC made the decision to move the entire card over 250 miles to California on just six days notice. The UFC stressed that Jones was innocent and that the test had only shown residual amounts of the banned substance, but this proved little consolation to the thousands of travelling fans who now had to book alternate travel and lodging arrangements at the last minute.
