8 Biggest Show Stealing WWE SummerSlam Matches Ever

4. Kurt Angle Vs. Brock Lesnar - 2003

At SummerSlam 2003, that year's WrestleMania main event, Kurt Angle versus Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, would be relegated to the midcard due to an Elimination Chamber match starring Triple H, Goldberg and Shawn Michaels. By the time SummerSlam rolled around, this was a totally different match-up than the one that had taken place a few months before. The face/heel status of the men had changed, as Kurt Angle returned from neck surgery a face, while Brock aligned himself with Mr. McMahon in an effort to regain the title from The Olympic Hero. When the bell rang, Lesnar and Angle displayed a level of athleticism and physicality that few could touch when it came to a big match setting. They took turns suplexing each other with reckless abandon, until Angle locked in an ankle lock Brock Lesnar just couldn't break out of. The submission victory was a massive shock, but legit as well. If Lesnar would tap out to anyone, who better to succumb to than one of the greatest amateur wresters in American history? No shame there, although The Pain would be hounded by 'you tapped out!' chants for the next several months.
