8 Booking Steps To Save The WWE Cruiserweight Title
7. Pick The Right GM
Daniel Bryan's announcement that a new 205 Live General Manager will be announced next week should represent a new dawn for the show. If WWE lazily write someone like Bryan into the spot, it'll feel like a wasted opportunity. It's time to bring some much-needed credibility to the program by reintroducing a legend associated with the style.
Rey Mysterio would be the perfect man for the gig. Being GM on 205 wouldn't stop Rey Rey from featuring in a WrestleMania feud elsewhere on Raw or SmackDown (ideally the latter, because Tuesday nights could do with more star power), and it acknowledges his start in ECW and WCW as a Cruiserweight during the mid-90s.
Mysterio is a big enough star that the announcement would carry weight and spark interest in a brand that's been sliding down the totem pole since it started. Reinvigorate our excitement for cruiserweights, please, rather than putting 205 Live under the same umbrella as SmackDown.
