8 Brave Booking Steps WWE Have Already Taken In 2018

7. SmackDown's Top 10

We didn't say every single one of these ideas would be a smash-hit.

Daniel Bryan's forced excitement over the 'SmackDown Top 10' is plain for all to see. After all, there's no real purpose to the list right now other than to push WWE's own personal popularity contest. The first Top 10 was full of featured babyface talent, for example, and the excuse that Shane McMahon and Bryan will use it to determine "future opportunities" seems flimsy.

Flimsy, yes, but not stupid. If WWE can figure out a way to make the Top 10 mean something (possibly by splitting it by division and turning the idea into something resembling a proper ranking system), it could become an important part of SmackDown programming.

Suddenly, matches would mean more and title shots might make more sense. WWE deserve to be derided for some elements of their booking, but trying to come up with ways to give SmackDown a shot in the arm, under-developed or not, isn't one of them.
