8 Brutally Short WWE Title Reigns That Don't Sit Well With Fans

6. Dolph Ziggler's World Heavyweight Championship Reign - 1 Hour

Dolph Ziggler was one of the best wrestlers on SmackDown back in 2011, and he put on some great matches. Naturally, you would expect him to have won his first World Championship in a stellar bout against another top competitor, right? Wrong.

Having stripped Edge of the title for using the Spear while it was banned, Vickie Guerrero simply awarded the championship to Dolph Ziggler. During the coronation ceremony, General Manager Teddy Long returned from kayfabe injury, and booked a match between Ziggler and Edge to crown the rightful champion. Ziggler lost, and his first reign as World Champion was over.

This is a tough reign for fans to deal with because a hard worker was screwed out of having a meaningful first run with the title. It wasn't won in a match, and it was over before the end of the show. Furthermore, his second championship reign was cut short due to concussion issues. We haven't seen a decent run from Ziggler yet, and with such a packed roster these days, it's unlikely we ever will.
