8 Brutally Short WWE Title Reigns That Don't Sit Well With Fans
2. Daniel Bryan's WWE Championship Reign - 22 Hours
No, I'm afraid not. One month after losing to Triple H's handpicked face of the WWE, Daniel Bryan beat Orton at Night Of Champions 2013 for the title. Having secured back-to-back victories over the company's top two stars, the fans thought that Orton's win at SummerSlam, and subsequent loss at NOC, was part of the plan to build Bryan up as a new star.
The next night on Raw, Triple H declared the championship vacant, citing that the referee Scott Armstrong performed a quick three-count, costing Orton the title.
Bryan's second run as WWE Champion was over, and it wasn't even lost in a match. To be beaten for a championship is fair enough, but once again, it seemed the WWE Universe's chosen one was being screwed out of the title. Originally, this was meant to be the end of Bryan's hunt for the strap, losing a rematch with Orton at Hell in a Cell 2013, but the fans weren't giving up that easily. Through intervention from the WWE Universe, Daniel Bryan was thrust back into the title scene during WrestleMania season, and at WrestleMania XXX, he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, righting the many wrongs along the way.
