4. Perfectly-Timed Double Winners
WWE actually had the temerity to bookend the November 29th 2004 Raw with two controversial finishes. In the first match, a battle royal to determine the number one contender to Triple H's World Heavyweight Title, final two Edge and Benoit's feet both hit the ringside area at exactly the same time, causing the main event to become a triple threat match. Then in the (pretty damn good) Benoit/Edge/Triple H main event, WWE booked another controversial finish: with Triple H taken out by a Randy Orton chair shot, it was down to Edge and the Rabid Wolverine. The finish saw Edge, who was locked in the Crippler Crossface, roll-up Benoit for the 1-2-3 at exactly the same time that he tapped out. Of course, the two refs in the ring (one had been bumped earlier in the match) disagreed over who the winner was and Raw ended on a cliffhanger. It was a great end to the show and really made you want to tune in next week to see how it all played out. Unfortunately, the whole thing just led to the Elimination Chamber at New Year's Revolution 2005, where Triple H reclaimed his title. So he never really lost the title and then won it back anyway? Great. Still, the finish to the November 29th Raw main event was top stuff.
