8 Craziest Stories Told On The Joe Rogan Experience

3. How David Goggins Overcame - #1080

Listening to David Goggins is a sure-fire way to feel like you really don't have your sh*t together. The former US Navy SEAL, and ultramarathon runner, seems to suffer from a condition that leads him to possess a never-ending supply of motivation, with him conquering increasingly unbelievable feats of strength and endurance throughout his career.

Just to put that in perspective, Goggins has:

- Completed over 4000 pull-ups in one day

- Ran 205 miles in 39 hours

- Won the Infinitus 88k race with a time over 20 minutes faster than his nearest competitor

But what makes Goggins' first appearance on the JRE so crazy is that he explains that he hasn't always been an unprecedentedly headstrong champion athlete. After suffering abuse from his father as a child, to escaping the parental suffering only to find himself in a town where he would be subjected to racist abuse; Goggins was left suffering from both anxiety and insecurity.

Goggins goes on to detail a series of hardships during his adult life in the military that he experienced that led him to develop the iron will that he has since become famous for. Learning to enjoy suffering and difficulties, while prospering in circumstances that most people can't even fathom, sets Goggins apart from the majority of people on earth.

And it's also what makes the JRE so fascinating, listening to people who have developed almost superhuman qualities showing their human side while explaining that their gifts often don't come naturally, and instead are the products of hard work and perseverance.
