8 Epic Wrestling Matches That Would Be Better If They Happened Now
4. Drew McIntyre Vs. Kofi Kingston
The focal point of Kofi Kingston's WrestleMania 35 angle is that he has been one of the most underrated workers on WWE's roster for a decade, and part of being underrated means putting over stars who don't deserve it. Such was the case in 2010, when Kingston feuded with Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre.
At the time, McIntyre was a star with the look and little else, but it was enough for Vince McMahon to declare him a future WWE Champion on TV. He was pushed hard and given the IC title, then placed into a feud with Kingston, who did his best to make him look good. Still, it was clear that McIntyre wasn't ready, and by 2011, his push faded. He soon got a reputation as damaged goods, and despite quietly improving, he was released in 2014.
McIntyre hit the indies and quickly salvaged his reputation, winning titles in TNA, EVOLVE, and WCPW en route to becoming one of the most talked-about wrestlers outside WWE. He's now a big - if not quite top line - player on Raw, just waiting to be heated up again. If Kofi succeeds in his title tilt this April, a Superstar Shakeup could very realistically produce a rematch against Drew as his first challenger.
