8 Former Midcarders Who Could Returns As WWE Main Eventers In 2016
3. Justin Gabriel
Fair play to Justin Gabriel - he didn't just sit around and bitch about his total lack of push, but he actually did something about it, going directly to the boss man and requesting his release the day before he was scheduled to compete in the 2015 Royal Rumble due to his frustrations with the company. Things looked good for Gabriel (and the rest of the Nexus) in the summer of 2010, with the South African born star racking up big wins against the likes of John Cena, before Big Match John torpedoed the whole thing because CenaWinsLOL. Following the disbanding of the Nexus (let's not mention the Corre, eh?), Gabriel slid further and further down the card, spending most of his time on shows like Main Event and Superstars. It's hard to blame him for wanting to go elsewhere, since he was wasting away on the C shows and his ideas were (according to him) being rebuffed by Triple H. He's done the rounds (as PJ Black) on the indies and has signed on for season two of Lucha Underground, so he is working regularly and may not want to come back to WWE, even if he's offered the chance. But Gabriel is a great worker, has a great look and could, with the right character and creative, go a lot further than during his first run there. All the way to the top? Not exactly likely, but not impossible either...
