8 Former Midcarders Who Could Returns As WWE Main Eventers In 2016

2. John Morrison

Okay, so John Morrison is a holdover from last year's list, but I'm allowed to have one, right? There's a good reason The Shaman of Sexy reappears this year, and that's because he's just way too good to be appearing in straight-to-DVD films where he gets his ass kicked by a Jack Russell. Morrison left WWE November 29th, 2011 (which seems like an age ago now) and the belief at the time was that he would go away for a year or two, heal up from some nagging injuries, pursue a couple of outside projects (he really wanted to be an actor) and then come back when the time is right. Obviously, that hasn't happened, for one reason or another. The Guru of Greatness is a major player in Lucha Underground and has signed on for season two, so it's doubtful we'll see him in WWE for at least another six months or so. He's committed to the project, but has made it known that he's not opposed to a WWE return in the near future. If Morrison were to return to the big time he'd do so as a much more well-rounded performer. Indeed, Morrison has made strides in Lucha Underground and with his acting work, and comes across like a genuine star, which is a problem he had during his run in WWE (it can't have been fun being overshadowed by The Miz of all people). Morrison is a talented worker and there are a tonne of fresh matches waiting for him in Vince's company. Just imagine what he'd be able to assemble with the likes of Seth Rollins, Neville, Cesaro and Cena...
