8 Great WWE Stars With Bad WrestleMania Resumes
8. Rob Van Dam
Now that The Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak is no longer a thing, Rob Van Dam holds the record for having the longest undefeated streak at the event. The Whole F***ing Show is 4-0 at the Showcase of the Immortals, but this perfect record is really anything but.
It started off well enough with an inoffensive victory over William Regal in the Intercontinental Title opener of WrestleMania X8. With only six minutes and nineteen seconds to play with, however, their match didn't exactly stand out or last long in the memory.
RVD would have taken six minutes at WrestleMania XIX, mind - he wasn't even on the card that year, his and Kane's World Tag Team Title match with Lance Storm and Val Venis being moved to the pre-show in order to make room for the Miller Light catfight girls. Yes, I'm being serious.
The next year, at WrestleMania XX, RVD made up the numbers in a four-team World Tag Team Title match, teaming with Booker T to defeat La Resistance, the Dudley Boyz and the team of Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade. It wasn't a great match and was clearly thrown together, but at least Van Dam had his hand raised in Madison Square Garden.
Mr. Pay-Per-View didn't wrestle at WrestleMania 21 due to injury but returned with a vengeance at 'Mania 22, winning the second ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match (also featuring Ric Flair, Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, Finlay and Bobby Lashley).
Sadly, his role at WrestleMania 23 a year later wouldn't be quite as prominent: he teamed with ECW originals The Sandman, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer to down the New Breed faction of Kevin Thorn, Matt Striker, Elijah Burke and Marcus Cor Von.
So that's RVD's WrestleMania resume. Some significant wins, sure, but too many pedestrian affairs and missed opportunities. Given his talent and how over he was at the time of some of these shows, he really should have been in bigger matches.
The chances of that happening in the future for the 45-year-old seem slim at best.
