SmackDown's various failings were destined to be exposed as Roman Reigns's reduced schedule took effect, but the massive lack of effort over the last year or so has become particularly apparent in the run up to Hell In A Cell.

Hell In A Cell was supposed to be the last smaller scale monthly special before WWE hit three stadiums in four months, but this has now been kiboshed by Money In The Bank's move from Allegiant Stadium to the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Suddenly, this under-thought B-Show (and imagine Hell In A Cell picking up this specific mantle) has to keep up a pretence that it belongs amongst the rest if the shows, in spite of WWE's highest-earning and drawing show contributing literally nothing to it as of press time.

Something from the blue brand will surely be added. The impending death of the brand split might have expedited all of this, of course, but few could have predicted it'd be Friday's show donating so little to the premium live events.

Especially considering who they've got leading the line...
