6. Stardust's Breakdown

The Problem: WWE fans are ambivalent when it comes to the hissing extraterrestrial Stardust. As a heel he is more strange than threatening. After so many years in the company, it feels like a waste to see the talented Cody Rhodes languish in this gimmick any longer. Insane Storyline: Break Cody out of the Stardust persona as soon as humanly possible. With the Rhodes family still grieving the loss of Dusty and Cody's commitment to his alter ego, Dustin Rhodes, in a rare appearance out of his Goldust persona, will stage an intervention for his brother, aided by Cody's mother and wife. At first, Stardust is uncooperative and refuses to listen to his family's plea, insisting he doesn't know what they're talking about. Dustin appeals to Cody, and gets choked up talking about the death of their beloved father. Cody finally breaks down at the sight of his brother's emotion and drops the Stardust act. Once out of character, Cody is overwhelmed by rage and grief, storms out and takes up a new life on the streets. Why They'd Never Do It: Investing this much time in a Stardust angle could just seem like a waste of time if they don't have big future plans for Cody.
