8 Last Minute Changes That Could Save WWE Clash Of Champions 2017

4. A United States Championship Singles Match

WWE Clash of Champions is a lacklustre card to say the least, but the least anticipated match award must go to the triple threat bout for the United States Championship. It is difficult to understand, but somebody somewhere thinks that the wrestling world wants to see a three-way between Baron Corbin, stale-as-stale Dolph Ziggler, and babyface Bobby Roode.

The first assumption one makes is that the triple threat is happening in order to get the belt away from Corbin without having to pin The Lone Wolf. Then that same fan remembers that Corbin lost his Money in the Bank briefcase in the lamest way possible back in August - Baron Corbin absolutely isn’t in the ‘must be protected’ box.

A singles match between Corbin and Roode should have been the way forward here. Well, the actual way forward would be for Baron Corbin to still be learning his trade on NXT, as Rusev defends the US title against Shinsuke Nakamura or something. This is a pointless triple threat.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
