8 Last Minute Changes That Could Save WWE Clash Of Champions 2017

2. Zero Special Guest Referees

I think I’d rather see a lumberjack match than a bout with a special guest referee. The idea of two special guest referees is particularly miserable, no matter how much I try to convince myself that two wrongs make a right. Four of SmackDown Live’s top stars will do battle in a true tag team dream match on Sunday night, two of whom will be fighting for their very livelihoods. The match should be excellent.

It should be, but it won’t be. It won’t be excellent because the focus isn’t going to be on Shinsuke Nakamura or Randy Orton. It isn’t even going to be on Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn, the two superstars who will be fired if they lose the match. The focus of the tag bout is going to be on the two authority figures in the black and white stripes.

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are going to be the centre of a match featuring four top stars, with no decent endgame in sight. This match would be a thousand times better and a thousand times more important if the Commissioner and the General Manager weren’t involved.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
