8 Main Roster WWE Superstars Who Would Thrive In NXT
6. Apollo Crews
Apollo is another example of someone who was called up from NXT before he was ready. Though he has an impeccable physique and incredible athleticism, his lack of a defined character ultimately doomed him to becoming just another guy. Currently, he’s part of Titus Worldwide with Titus O’Neil, which started as a jokey sendup of LaVar Ball’s Big Baller Brand, but now has transitioned into a more interesting mentor/mentee dynamic between Titus and Akira Tozawa. As such, Crews is just another guy, even in that setup.
If he were to return to NXT, Crews could start to properly create a good character without having to compromise with the 30-odd writers from the main roster shows. We could see a different Apollo Crews as he tangles with the likes of Aleister Black and Bobby Roode, perhaps giving him a whole new edge. Anything would be better than the bland, passive babyface role he’s been stuck as since his debut.
