Everyone who follows the business closely is well aware of the heat between Chris Jericho and Bill Goldberg. The beef started simmering while the two men were in WCW. Jericho was a part of some hilarious segments where he and his security, Ralphus openly mocked Goldberg from his ring entrance to his catchphrase. It helped get Jericho over and the crowd was rabid to see the WWE phenom destroy the whiny Lionheart. Goldberg didn't find it funny, and being largely inexperienced had people in his ear telling him that Chris was making a fool out of him. The angle never led to a match between the two despite the fact that Jericho told his boss that he was willing to get thrashed in thirty seconds on pay-per-view just to give it a payoff. Instead the two never crossed paths until a few years later when they were both in WWE. Words were exchanged backstage which ended in the two men locking horns in a legitimate fight. The much larger and stronger Goldberg was taken down by Jericho and locked in a front facelock unable to escape, and he was held there until the fight was broken up. Jericho has since tried to humblebrag and say that Goldberg would have killed him if he hadn't gotten lucky, but that's not the consensus from those who witnessed the skirmish. The boys were able to put their beef behind them, partially due to the fact that Goldberg surely realized he was no longer than big dog in the locker room that he had been in WCW.
