8 Minor Changes That Would Make A Major Difference To WWE Survivor Series 2017
1. Put Something On The Line
It isn’t entirely true that nothing is on the line this Sunday. Kurt Angle may well be out of a job if RAW comes up short, and whichever brand loses will have no small amount of egg on its face. But is that enough? Are bragging rights meaningful enough to add a bit of importance to Survivor Series 2017?
In order for these RAW vs. SmackDown events to matter, something needs to be on the line between the two brands. There needs to be something more than ‘brand loyalty’ to convince former partners to turn on each other. 12 months ago, eight of those competing on Sunday were on the opposite show and five weren’t even on the main roster. John Cena was on RAW just a cup of coffee ago.
It is a minor change, but WWE should have put something major on the line this Sunday. How about the first draft pick in a potential 2018 draft? The WrestleMania main event? Entry number 30 in the Royal Rumble? The truth is there are no consequences on Sunday. RAW and SmackDown will collide, but the WWE wheel will continue to spin as if nothing has happened.
