8 Mistakes WWE Have Already Made With Jason Jordan's Push

4. Squashing A Local Jobber

Toronto wrestling crowds are primarily known for two things - their local pride and being smarks. It was pure foolishness, then, to have Jordan come out and dismantle a local wrestler in front of a heated Toronto crowd, and the vocal reactions are evidence enough.

The poor jobber looks like the biggest underdog in the world in this position for facing off against an established superstar - one that's in the midst of an incredibly transparent push, no less. This puts the jobber in a position that more naturally endears him to the crowd and thus turns them away from Jordan, his opponent. There's a reason that it's normally heels who face off against random enhancement talent.

This is an effect that is especially compounded by having this jobber be a local boy, further aligning the crowd towards him and not Jordan. Commentary then calling it a "Rocky Balboa moment" for Jean-Pierre Goulet further frames Jordan as the antagonist in this situation.

Despite the impressive performance Jordan gave in the squash, beating a nobody does little to enhance his credibility, and defeating an underdog in his home town is absolutely not how you get someone over as a lovable babyface.
