Okay, so there may be heat in the comments for McGregor being on this list three times, but what honestly needs to be said? He’s the biggest star the sport has ever seen and has main evented five of the top six highest selling UFC pay per views. His numbers don’t lie, and say what you will about him, the man makes the sport more compelling than anyone else.

The tension and heat leading up to McGregor and Khabib’s first fight was the stuff of movies. McGregor launched vicious verbal attacks towards Khabib and his family, and even in a more literal sense with the bus attack at UFC 223. Kind of funny to look back now and think all of this was started by a confrontation Khabib had with Conor McGregor’s best friend, and the true GOAT/five weight UFC champion (kidding) Artem Lobov.

None of this beef ended at the conclusion of their first meeting. After Khabib made McGregor tap out to a neck crank in the 4th round he then proceeded to jump over the cage and attack McGregor’s training partner/coach Dillon Danis. This started an all out brawl in the arena which got so bad Dana refused to award Khabib the belt in the cage for fear it would spark further rioting amongst the crowd.

The heat between the pair has just continually escalated further and further. Their feud and personal attacks on Twitter became so distasteful that Dana White had to step in and tell each man to knock it off. All of this, however, is building to potentially an even bigger fight in the rematch. Khabib is currently scheduled to fight Dustin Poirier in September and there is speculation McGregor will be in attendance at the event. What happens from there? Who knows, but if and probably when this rematch comes to fruition it’s a safe bet that it will be the biggest fight in UFC history.
