One of the biggest revelations in that podcast interview was the fact that the WWE fired CM Punk on his wedding day. It's this which actually dominated the majority of headlines after the episode went live, with even gossip sites like TMZ getting in on the action and slamming WWE. What's particularly shocking about this is the fact that Punk alleges that he had he had been texting Triple H a couple of days beforehand about talking when he returned from his honeymoon, making the appearance of termination papers from FedEx on the day he was set to marry AJ Lee all the more surprising. "I was fired, on my wedding day," Punk said at the time. "Very calculated, very deliberate. As much as I chuckled at it and didn't let it affect my day, I was like once again, you pushed too f**king far. You pushed the wrong guy." It seems like that may have been the straw that broke the camel's back in regards to Punk ever returning to the WWE, and it may even be this which later led to the departure of AJ Lee as well. For what it's worth, Vince McMahon later dismissed this happening on the former WWE Superstar's wedding day as a coincidence and apologised, but based on the bitterness between the two parties, you have to believe it was a deliberate move. It just feels like too much of a coincidence to have actually been one!
