4. Rusev

Before suffering his injury, there were many reports that Rusev was going to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship at the Elimination Chamber Network special. But when he broke his foot, those hopes were destroyed. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he has lost the managerial services of Lana, who was one of the main reasons people paid attention to Rusev in the first place.

On one hand, WWE have done something smart by keeping Rusev on TV by continuing this storyline with Lana. In doing so, people won’t forget Rusev, and he’ll still play a role on WWE programming. On the other hand, it weakens his character significantly, as it has transformed him from an aggressive Bulgarian monster into a whining, heartbroken man who can’t seem to let Lana go.

It was bad enough that Rusev lost to John Cena in three consecutive PPV matches, losing considerable momentum from his undefeated streak being ended without getting any proper retribution against John Cena. Now, the Bulgarian Brute has lost his sense of brutality and is being forced to hobble around on crutches.

So while it does help in keeping him relevant, there is a growing worry that Rusev might never achieve the same heights. Winning the IC Championship would’ve been the ideal redemption for him, but his injury has prevented him from playing the monster that made him a big deal in the first place.
