8 Most Polarizing Wrestlers Working Today
7. Kenny Omega
Kenny Omega - according to to the internet he's either a phenomenal talent who lives up to his Best Bout Machine nickname, or an over-rated try-too-hard who believes his own hype (and he can't book for toffee either).
Make no mistake, Kenny Omega is an extremely talented wrestler. His tag-team with Adam Page has provided the best in-ring action AEW has seen since it's inception, the Stadium Stampede was cinematic wrestling near-perfected and, of course, there's his generation-defining series with Kazuchika Okada to consider.
To counter this, Omega's detractors like to point out the man's tendency to go over the top and provide self-conciously 'epic' matches, his unsanctioned match against Jon Moxley being the perfect example. One of the most divisive bouts of last year, watching Omega and Moxley tear into each other was a genuinely gruelling experience to watch and not many people's idea of entertainment. It was deathmatch wrestling writ large, but for many the over the top violence didn't enhance the match but took away from it. A noble failure, but a failure none the less.
Add to that his rather prickly online reactions when people bring up the AEW women's division and you have one of the most fascinating characters in wrestling - a flawed prodigy whose weaknesses add to his legend as much as his strengths.
