8 Most Shocking Kurt Angle WWE Moments

6. Joining The Alliance

No, the entire WCW/ECW 'Invasion' of the WWF cannot be considered a success, but it did lead to one of Kurt Angle's most shocking moments. On the 29 October 2001 Raw, Angle sprinted in as part of Team WWF to aid Vince McMahon's battle against Shane and the entire Alliance. Then, he smashed Chris Jericho with a steel chair and went on quite the rampage.

As Jim Ross pleaded with Kurt to stop on commentary and Paul Heyman happily welcomed the Olympian into the bosom of The Alliance, Angle joined forces with Shane, Steve Austin, and his new WCW/ECW buddies. This was just the latest turn in a long line of them during a storyline creative had long since botched.

Forget the sorry saga for a moment though, because Kurt nailed his heel turn here. Go back to watch that episode and you'll hear a crowd completely stunned by what they were seeing. Crappy Invasion or not, this switch worked on the night.
